Is it necessary to check in with my e-ticket train?

• You cannot check in or out with an e-ticket as it does not contain a chip. You can open a closed gate with it. Not all gates are suitable for an e-ticket. Look for a gate that has a "Scan tickets" symbol and a glass in the place where you normally present your OV chip card.

• If the gate does not open with the scanning of your e-ticket, turn off the NFC on your smartphone (only possible with Android phones) and try again, keep your smartphone at some distance from the scanner. (NFC can be found in the "settings" of your smartphone under "connections").
